Quality Assurance
Although
we know that quality is assured during manufacture and not by
testing, we have nevertheless set up a quality testing department equipped
with the latest technology. The following methods are applied for testing the materials we use:
- Chemical analysis (including X-ray fluorescence analysis, XRF)
- X-ray testing
- Crack testing using the dye penetration method
- Universal testing machine for the determination of yield strength, tensile strength, and elongation at fracture.
- Hardness testing in accordance with Brinell (HB), Vickers (HV), and Rockwell (HRC)
- Metallography for the determination of the degree of purity and grain size
- Scanning electron microscope with micro analysis (EDX)
- Servohydraulic testing system for the determination of the fatigue strength of prosthetic components.
Since
the geometry of the parts and of their surface characteristics plays
as significant a role as the properties of the materials and components
used, the climate-controlled measuring rooms have a range of measuring
equipment from electronic slide gauges and micrometer screws to
computer-guided 3-D coordinate measuring machines and testing devices for
roundness and roughness. It goes without saying that all the testing and measuring equipment is regularly serviced and calibrated by either the manufacturers themselves or by specialist companies.
